We are living in the age of neuroscience-the time when we can make a difference in the way that we age and graceful aging is the goal. Early diagnosis of dementia means that aging can still be graceful, that is the time when medication and brain training makes the most difference. In our almost ten years of doing brain training we have managed to improve the quality of life in individuals diagnosed with dementia. Our greatest impact has occured when dementia is diagnosed early by our neuropsychology staff. The first sign of most dementias is memory; forgetting things you said the day before, what you did the day before, which includes finding your glasses in the refridgerator. People are afraid of dementia and deny these memory problems not realizing that they can actually prevent dementia decline if they confront the problem immediately. We are living in the age when so many things are possible, including the ability to age gracefully with your cognitive abilities intact.
